Psalm 30

Joy comes in the morning.

A Psalm of David for the dedication of the Temple.

I will praise You, Adonai,

because You have raised me up

and did not allow my enemies to gloat.

Adonai, my God,

I cried to You for help,

and You have healed me.

Adonai, You brought my soul up

from the realm of the dead,

You spared me from the Pit.

Faithful ones, sing praise to Adonai

and praise God’s holy Name.

God’s anger is temporary,

but God’s favor is eternal.

Your night may be filled with weeping,

but your morning will be filled with joy.

When I felt secure,

I said “I will never stumble.”

Adonai, in Your mercy You made me

as sure as a mountain.

But when You turned away, I was terrified.

I cried out to You, Adonai, for mercy,

pleading “What is gained by my death,

in going down to the Pit?

Dust cannot praise You.

Dust cannot proclaim Your truth.

Hear, Adonai, and show mercy to me.

Adonai, help me.”

You transformed my weeping into dancing.

You removed my mourning clothes

and dressed me with joy

so I may sing to You whole-heartedly.

Adonai my God,

I will forever praise You.
