Psalm 29

A Davidic Psalm.

Give to Adonai,

oh heavenly beings,

give to Adonai majesty, and might.

Give to Adonai the majesty of Adonai‘s name.

Bow down to Adonai in the splendor of holiness.

Adonai‘s voice thunders over the waters in glory,

over mighty waters is Adonai.

Adonai‘s voice is powerful and full of majesty.

Adonai‘s voice splinters

even the cedars of Lebanon.

Adonai makes Lebanon leap like a calf

and Sirion like a young untamed ox.

Adonai‘s voice carves out tongues of fire.

Adonai‘s voice makes the desert shake

as well as the wilderness of Kadesh.

Adonai‘s voice causes birth pangs to deer

and renders forests barren,

and everyone in Adonai’s Temple

are saying “Glory!”

Adonai sits in Adonai‘s throne over the flood.

Yes, Adonai is enthroned Ruler forever.

Adonai gives Adonai’s people strength

and blesses them with shalom.

Psalm 28

A Davidic Psalm.

Adonai, I called to You

– do not be deaf to me, my Rock.

If You refuse to speak to me,

I would be as bad off

as those who go down to the pit.

Listen to my pleas when I beg You for help,

when I stretch my hands

toward Your Holy Temple.

Don’t drag me off

with those who are evil

and those who do evil things;

who are all smiles with their neighbors

while they plot evil in their hearts.

Repay them according to their actions,

in the same manner

as what they have done.

Repay them for their handiwork

and return to them

what they deserve.

Because they don’t have respect

for the work of Adonai

or what Adonai’s hands have done,

Adonai will tear them down

and never rebuild them.

Praise be Adonai,

because Adonai has listened

to my pleas.

Adonai is my might and my protection.

In Adonai my heart trusts,

and I was aided.

Therefore, my heart is full of joy,

and with my song I will praise Adonai.

Adonai is the people’s strength,

a fortress of salvation

for Adonai’s anointed.

Rescue Your people

and bless Your possession,

guide them,

and always carry them.
