Psalm 28

A Davidic Psalm.

Adonai, I called to You

– do not be deaf to me, my Rock.

If You refuse to speak to me,

I would be as bad off

as those who go down to the pit.

Listen to my pleas when I beg You for help,

when I stretch my hands

toward Your Holy Temple.

Don’t drag me off

with those who are evil

and those who do evil things;

who are all smiles with their neighbors

while they plot evil in their hearts.

Repay them according to their actions,

in the same manner

as what they have done.

Repay them for their handiwork

and return to them

what they deserve.

Because they don’t have respect

for the work of Adonai

or what Adonai’s hands have done,

Adonai will tear them down

and never rebuild them.

Praise be Adonai,

because Adonai has listened

to my pleas.

Adonai is my might and my protection.

In Adonai my heart trusts,

and I was aided.

Therefore, my heart is full of joy,

and with my song I will praise Adonai.

Adonai is the people’s strength,

a fortress of salvation

for Adonai’s anointed.

Rescue Your people

and bless Your possession,

guide them,

and always carry them.
